On my most recent visit to Bucharest, the capital city of Romania, I set out to find the best breakfast Bucharest has to offer. On this list you’ll find everything from savory to sweet, including many favorite classic breakfast options and a few you may not have seen before!

Fior di Latte

Several of my local friends have named Fior de Latte as their go to favorite breakfast Bucharest eatery. Menu favorites include made to order omelettes and eggs Benedict topped with salmon. If you’re feeling particularly decadent, I recommend their truffled omelet!
Fior de Latte also offers their breakfast menu all day for those of you who are late risers.
Pio Bistro

Pio Bistro is one of the newer eateries to open in town. My friend and I were impressed by not only their menu, but the incredible service we received there. The menu had classic options elevated to a more fine dining setting and used locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible.
Diners can’t get enough of the matcha pancakes topped with fresh fruit,
the classic eggs Benedict covered in hollandaise
or my favorite, the skaksuka
Simbio
Strada Negustori 26 //0756 746 246
Simbio is another great place for a Bucharest breakfast. Featuring an all day breakfast menu, this eatery is perfect for Sunday brunch. I also love the restaurant’s open kitchen concept.
The French toast is topped with fresh fruit and finished with a healthy drizzle of their wild berry sauce.
If you’re not in the mood for something sweet, you can also find a full English breakfast or granola bowls for those looking for a lighter start to the day.

Frudisiac

Frudisiac’s gorgeous Scandinavian inspired creations just beg to be shared on Instagram. But, the team doesn’t just put thought into their plating — all their food is incredibly delicious, and the pancakes are some of the most popular in town.
I love their savory toast creations, like this ham, egg and pear option
or this gorgeous cheese and fig covered toast.
You can also find soups, salads and shaksuka on their menu if you’re not craving designer toast for breakfast!
Chocolat

Chocolat offers you a choice between either a sweet or savory breakfast. I chose the savory and almost couldn’t finish it!
The breakfast includes a small salad, eggs made to order, cheese, tomato, fruit, bacon, toast with butter and coffee or tea.
Definitely come hungry for this one!
Za Lokal
Calea Victoriei 214 //031 425 3110
You won’t find menus at your table at Za Lokal. Instead, look for the big chalkboard or ask the waiter to bring it to your table. There, you’ll find a breakfast menu full of sweet and savory waffles and pancakes alongside a creative and frequently changing topping list.
If you’re not sure what to get, go for the waffle trio — each waffle contains your choice of different toppings! Ask to be seated on the patio if the weather is nice — it’s prime real estate for people watching!
